Next Steps...A Promise Made - A Time for Action

As many of you know, my mustang mare Koko inspired me to create a rescue and gentling/training center for mustangs.  As time has gone on, the plight of the wild mustangs that are currently in captivity but unadopted has reached a critical state of approximately 30,000. (These horses are in holding facilities across the US, they are not out on the range running wild).

Now my promise must go with the needs of the mustangs and expand beyond our New England Rescue in order to save many more from being destroyed by the very agency in charge of their safety - the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). I am sure you are all aware of the fight between the BLM and the people at large regarding the mass destruction of these wild mustangs and how quickly time is running out. (To listen to a news report on the situation you can go to the link below for more information.)

I am currently in the process of creating the 501(c)(3) non-profit called The Peoples' Mustang Sanctuary. Simply named - these mustangs that are in danger of being destroyed belong to the people of the US not the BLM. That is how this Sanctuary found it's name.

Our goal is to begin fundraising as soon as we receive our 501(c)(3) status and purchase a large, suitable property in the Midwest, Southwest area that we can begin bringing in a reasonable number of mustangs based on acreage available to live out their days. The property we are going to need will be a minimum of 10,000 acres to begin with so we must go toward the west to find suitable acreage of that size available to purchase.

Anyone interested in finding out how you can help us (this is a huge project and so much help and expertise is needed so we can create a successful sanctuary) please contact myself or Rachel Fowler by email.
