As many of you know, my mustang mare Koko inspired me to create a rescue and gentling/training center for mustangs. As time has gone on, the plight of the wild mustangs that are currently in captivity but unadopted has reached a critical state of approximately 30,000. (These horses are in holding facilities across the US, they are not out on the range running wild).
Now my promise must go with the needs of the mustangs and expand beyond our New England Rescue in order to save many more from being destroyed by the very agency in charge of their safety - the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). I am sure you are all aware of the fight between the BLM and the people at large regarding the mass destruction of these wild mustangs and how quickly time is running out. (To listen to a news report on the situation you can go to the link below for more information.)
I am currently in the process of creating the 501(c)(3) non-profit called The Peoples' Mustang Sanctuary. Simply named - these mustangs that are in danger of being destroyed belong to the people of the US not the BLM. That is how this Sanctuary found it's name.
Our goal is to begin fundraising as soon as we receive our 501(c)(3) status and purchase a large, suitable property in the Midwest, Southwest area that we can begin bringing in a reasonable number of mustangs based on acreage available to live out their days. The property we are going to need will be a minimum of 10,000 acres to begin with so we must go toward the west to find suitable acreage of that size available to purchase.
Anyone interested in finding out how you can help us (this is a huge project and so much help and expertise is needed so we can create a successful sanctuary) please contact myself or Rachel Fowler by email.

Rachel will be coming back to teach lessons on Saturdays! (The picture above is Rachel's favorite horse - you will notice I could only get the picture of Rachel's legs in the photo...yay Deb!) ;) Rachel took time off to return to college and we're thrilled she's back to teach lessons with us.
For those of you that don't know how important Rachel is to ASF, let me tell you. Rachel began riding with me when she was 13 years old. Since that time she has always been my right (and left) hand with our program. She has been my behind the scenes business partner at ASF for many years. Without Rachel's support (in all ways), ASF would still be a plan on a piece of paper. :) She is also the ASF webmaster!
Rachel and I are currently discussing new opportunites for my personal passion, the DreamCatcher Mustang Rescue and expanding the existing offerings of ASF.
Welcome back Rachel! :) I've missed you, as have your many students.
We are proud to welcome Kati Grziwa of Healthy Riding, LLC joining our group of professional instructors to American Spirit Farm.

Kati is accepting new adult students of all levels to her program both at American Spirit Farm and for independent owners/riders that have horses at their own facilities.

Welcome Kati and go ride my horses for me! Love, Deb :)
Proctor Hill Farm hosted the annual Middlesex County 4H Judging shows for all the County horse 4Hers. It was a wonderful success - filled to capacity. 4Hers judged confirmation of Quarter Horses, Paints and Warmbloods later judging a Hunter Under Saddle demonstration.
Instructor Jess McKenna and Deb Brosnan rode in the demonstration. Jess rode Lynx and Deb rode Koko. We rode with Tracy (Poof and Candy's mom) and Jess (Splash's mom) in the demonstration and had a wonderful time.
We hope that anyone interested in joining our 4H group contact Deb Brosnan for further information. Our next meeting is 2 weeks from now. Our group is age 8-18.
Have a great week!

Announcements:
Sunday - October 28th: The 4H judging show will be held at Proctor Hill and there will be NO LESSONS on October 28th. We invite everyone to attend the 4H show. Especially our 4Hers!
Sunday - November 4th: Please note there is a gaming show being put on by Proctor Hill Farm until 2pm. Lessons will run that day but please note that parking will be an issue. Please be aware of areas you can park and do not block the areas that the horses travel in and out of between the two barns. Because of the number of horses that will be in the parking area - please drive VERY slow and be aware of horses.
Have a great week!
